As someone who’s always been drawn to the allure of the open sea, A Flicker in the Water: Inside the Tales by Bob Gonzalez was a delightful catch. From the very first page, I felt like I was actually on the sun-soaked deck of the Twister myself, navigating the waves alongside Bob and his crew. Bob’s ability throughout this book to blend thrilling fishing adventures with moments of genuine camaraderie and reflection made this a really entertaining read.
Each story, to me, shares nature’s unpredictability, and how we humans find a way through it, whether it’s battling a mighty blue marlin or weathering a sudden storm. You should read this book if you like to be entertained! If you’re interested in the ocean, fish, and stories of adventure this is a good fit for you. There’s plenty of interesting factual tidbits sprinkled in as well, and it’s an easy read. Good stuff!
