Poem of a Bering Sea Captain – Forgiveness

Forgiveness
forgiveness doesn’t have a cost
or giving up what has been lost
what is beyond our control
for us all life has a toll
a debt that never can be paid
trapped inside the bed we made
holding others to their past
the time we have goes by so fast
giving in and letting go
it is by grace that we all grow
without forgiveness there is no way
it’s what you do not what you say
inside your heart you must begin
to guard the light that shines within
as it grows you will find
all that was once left behind
the darkness that starts out so small
will try it’s best to take it all
holding onto every wrong
it won’t take so very long
to find you’re on the path to hate
do not let this be your fate
when you forgive it’s then you see
you’re the one who is set free…
