Meet the Author:
Lonna Enox is a former high school and college English instructor. She grew up on a ranch in New Mexico, where she learned to love critters, reading, and “wide open” spaces. She is a wife, mom, and grandmother, as well as the proud owner of 4 rescue pets–3 cats and a dog. Aside from an early stint as a newspaper reporter, she also spent 10 years as a freelance magazine writer. She is happiest exploring a wildlife refuge, cuddling little ones and critters, or snuggled up reading a good mystery.
Lonna is a professional writer with over 250 printed articles in a variety of national and regional magazines. She has written in several genres and The Last Dance is her debut mystery.

We asked Lonna about Writing and Reading Mysteries
A book about a mystery in New Mexico who would not love that? I love reading mysteries. I have a natural curiosity, have had all of my life, and I hate ‘unfinished’ answers to questions. New Mexico and West Texas are ‘home’ to me so it only made sense to write a mystery that takes place in the same areas.
The Last Dance is set in Saddle Gap, New Mexico. Saddle Gap is the fictional town I built near Lordsburg, NM. I spent several months in the area while my husband did some computer work for various school districts. We were in a motorhome in a very rural area. It gave me a wonderful opportunity to explore and create my own story and characters.
The inspiration for the story and character come from everything you see and smell. I love people watching it gives me inspiration. I’ll see a person and wonder what they would do “if”…? Incidents from the news sometimes sparks an idea. My mind has always asked, “What if?” In finding the answer, I am solving a mystery.
There are many books out there about mysteries. Mine are unique because I am writing them. Every author adds a unique flavor to their stories. Bits and pieces of my experiences…or those of people I know…sometimes find themselves in my books, with different outcomes or situations.
I have been waiting for Sue Grafton’s “Z” book, and grieve that she died before we could have it. I love her character, Kinsey Milhone.
I am close to finishing the fourth book, Untold Agony, in this Sorrel Janes series. In this mystery, I have a new set of characters and a different story waiting for me to finish.
