I recently had the pleasure of reading Alexandria Ausman’s “Delusion of the Collar and the Key”. This book is the fourth installment in her “Psycho” series, and it does not disappoint. Psycho’s Delusion of the Collar and the Key is a gripping tale of mental illness and abuse. Julie, Psycho’s guardian, is a sexually sadistic daughter who constantly manipulates, assaults, and lies to her. Withholding the necessary medications to control Psycho’s mental illness, Julie creates a dangerous delusion that endangers the teenager.
The book follows the story of Psycho, a young girl being abused by her guardians. Through the use of manipulation and lies, they are able to keep her under their control. However, Psycho is a fighter, and she will not give up without a fight.
This book was an amazing read. I could not put it down. The story was captivating, and the characters were so well developed. The book does an excellent job of exploring the effects of mental illness and abuse on its victims. Psycho is a sympathetic character that readers will root for. The book is well-written and suspenseful. I highly recommend it.

Alexandria May Ausman in her 16th year was diagnosed with Schizophrenia. She was quickly abandoned by her foster parents. While still only a teen, she was forced to battle this devastating illness alone.
Alexandria has struggled with lack of a support system, numerous psychotic episodes, exploitation, homelessness, and an uncaring mental health system.
Alexandria raised two healthy children. After obtaining her bachelor’s degree in psychology she worked as a child abuse investigator and became a diagnostic psychologist while acquiring her Master’s in psychology. Alexandria never forgot the experience of ‘slipping through the cracks.’ Her life’s goal is to help people suffering abuse and/or mental illness have access to necessary services. By accident, she became a model of ‘gothic attire’ and the World Goth Queen.
She began writing a fictionalized account of her life experiences after a catastrophic return of psychotic symptoms. Today, Alexandria is retired, and homebound due to crippling symptoms of Schizophrenia. She currently lives in Tallahassee, Florida, with her loving husband and a loyal support dog.
