1- Do your research work

Research is the most basic and vital element of enhancing interview skills. You should research the topic and the person you’re interviewing. Start with his background and how they relate to your writing genre.

2- Draft a script

A script is an unskippable part of conducting an interview. You should have a concise draft of the questions you will ask. Otherwise, you can write a detailed script. Cross-check the script many times. And practice speaking the script effectively.

3- Start preparations

You must start preparations to conduct your interview. Besides your practices, you must work on the external factors that need to be perfect. Like the place set up, confirm the invitation, refreshment, highs and lows of the discussion, pauses, etc.

4- Practice listening

Listening is an art; you must look attentive and give relevant facial expressions. For that, you have to master some formal facial expressions that won’t offend the next person.

5- Communicate professionally

You have to practice your script verbally. You should know where and when to emphasize any question or point of discussion. If you are low on confidence, you can practice communicating in front of the mirror.

6- Be punctual

Time is the leading factor that adds to your professionalism. So, when working on your interview skills, you must consider the time element. You can divide the total time and decide the dedicated time for each constituent of the interview. Also, you should start and end up on time.
