Can you give us a brief overview of “ORIGINS: The Secrets Of Mykia”? What inspired you to write this particular story? I originally wrote the story when I was 16 years old and published it 20 years later in 2016. In this 2nd edition I wanted to bring out some aspects of the story that I did not in its debut.

In the 28th century, the human race finds itself embroiled in a pitiless and ferocious life-or-death struggle with an alien race which is resolved to destroy them. The Ramassidors are not only malevolent, they are also highly advanced. There’s also something else about them, however. Concealed and obscure, they have an agenda which is higher than mere conquest. Michael Stratford is part of Deltacore, the military force assigned to Interstellar combat. He is a genuine decorated war hero and the captain of the Horizon, but he knows that humanity is losing this fight and he wants answers. As Stratford begins to question the war and the designs of the Ramassidors, he makes enemies who not only lie to him, but who also want him dead. And as he closes in on the truth he reveals something truly shocking. Extinction of the universe is imminent if Stratford fails his task. PURCHASE ON AMAZON

Science fiction often explores speculative and futuristic concepts. What unique elements or themes does your book bring to the genre? Holographic phone calls, various alien races, crazy planets, insane weapons, and humans  can travel millions of light years. But the most coolest thing is Earth is no longer inhabited by humans, but an evil alien race that has taken it over hundreds of years ago.

The title suggests a deep exploration of the world of Mykia. Could you tell us more about this world and its significance in your story? Mykia is the place everyone wants to live. Living there guarantees you get a free living. Free food, housing and everything else. Mykians won these resources in a peace treaty with the U’hara after the U’hara destroyed Mykia many years ago. But Mykia is a difficult place to get residency. It can be a hundred year waiting list. By then, the people waiting will be deceased, except for the alien races that can live 300 to 1000 years.

Many authors draw from personal experiences or real-life influences when crafting their stories. Are there any personal connections or inspirations that you incorporated into “ORIGINS: The Secrets Of Mykia”? No, at least not intentionally. But I think I unconsciously infused a part of my personality into all of my characters.

Your previous works have been praised for their world-building. How did you go about creating the intricate universe of Mykia? What challenges did you face during this process? I think the challenge is making this planet different then anything else anyone as ever seen or read about in any story. What can I add to Mykia that makes it unique and wanting readers to know more about it? Thats the question I have to ask myself when I’m world building.

Complex characters can greatly enhance a reader’s connection to a story. Who are the main characters of “ORIGINS,” and what aspects of their personalities make them relatable or intriguing? Michael Stratford is a highly decorated captain of the Deltacore, the interstellar military that is the only military branch in the future. He is the captain of the Horizon warship and leads his zany crew on some dangerous battles. His wife is Lisa Stratford, she is a Mykian and they struggle to keep their marriage going due to him being in a war with the Ramassidors, which monopolizes all of his time.  The other main character is Xona Bari, a mercenary for hire who is acerbic and always in a bad mood. She is an exiled Mykian and her methods of force are extremely brutal, unconventional, bitter, hatful and violent. I think what makes them relatable is Stratford and Lisa’s marriage struggles and Xona dealing with past abuse and tragedy in her life, which has molded her the way she is now. They are both after a particle in space that created the universe and god himself. Whoever gets a hold of it…well…  PURCHASE ON AMAZON

The science fiction genre often provides a platform to explore contemporary issues through a futuristic lens. Are there any real-world themes or concerns that you’ve addressed in “ORIGINS: The Secrets Of Mykia”? Interracial dating and racism. Although racism has been practiced for thousands of years, I think it is seeing somewhat of a surge in the past few years. In the story, it is frowned upon by some for Mykians and humans getting married. but is mostly frowned upon if an Mykian woman and human male having children.

As a science fiction author, you’ve likely had to envision technological advancements and societal shifts. Could you describe some of the technological or cultural changes that define the world of Mykia? The cultural structure of Mykia is a planet that is extremely well protected. Since everything there is free, many other races try to sneak on the planet to live or to sell its wonderful resources that are indigenous to Mykia, like the Galora trees, which grows  delicious coffee seed pods. It is heavily protected by the Deltacore military, Border Patrol, Immigration, The Mykian Legion(their own military, and the Port Authority.

A rich and immersive story often leaves readers reflecting on its messages long after they’ve finished reading. What ideas or messages do you hope readers will take away from your book? No matter how dire things may appear, you must keep fighting until your last breath.

Collaboration and conflict are central to many stories. How do interpersonal relationships, alliances, or conflicts shape the narrative of “ORIGINS”? Very much so. There are so many different personalities in this story and they are all after the same thing, the particle, or they are affected by it indirectly.

The process of writing and publishing a book can be a journey of its own. Could you share some insights into your writing process and how you approached getting “ORIGINS: The Secrets Of Mykia” published? Well, I wrote this when I was 16, so when I brushed the dust off it in 2016, it greatly needed some work. So much has changed since I first wrote it, and it was not something I wanted to publish. I had to overhaul the whole story. I also write best when I have a stream of momentum going and I just ride that wave until I hit a block. I then regroup and get back it again.

Science fiction has a strong tradition of sparking the imagination and influencing innovation. Do you think the concepts in your book could have any real-world applications or inspire new ideas? Well, there are no phones, everything is done with holograms. But I think one day we will make a call and our recipient will be a hologram that we will be talking to.

“ORIGINS” suggests a deep exploration of beginnings and history. Without giving away too much, how does the theme of origins play a role in your story? I think that it may ignite a pursuit about how our universe formed. I think it may also encourage others to explore the true meaning of our lives and what is our purpose here.

Readers often enjoy discovering Easter eggs or hidden references in books. Are there any subtle details or references in “ORIGINS: The Secrets Of Mykia” that eagle-eyed readers should watch out for? There are plenty of hidden references. Most of them are an ode to sci-fi classics and cult classic movies that I hope people will catch. And some are personal things that have tremendously impacted me throughout my life.

Finally, what do you hope readers will remember most about “ORIGINS: The Secrets Of Mykia” after reading it? Is there a particular emotion, scene, or idea you hope will stay with them? My main thing is for people to be immensely intrigued and entertained throughly. So much so, they will yearn for more!
