Today, we have the pleasure of speaking with talented poet Javier Rhoden about his four empowering poetry book collections. His work is inspired by a deep love for humanity and compassion, and each one of his books will leave a lasting positive impression on whoever reads them. Join us as Javier shares more about his writing process, the inspiration behind his work, and how he hopes to spread joy and positivity through words.

Javier jas four empowering poetry book collections that will leave a positive and lasting impression within the heart of whoever reads them, because that’s where they were written from. ‘Luminescence’ brings you on a compelling journey of discovery and empowerment through overcoming insecurities, fear and self-doubt, to build confidence in yourself by learning to appreciate yourself, to know your worth and move on from your past as you let your inner light shine.

To be read on its own or as a complement to Luminescence, my second work ‘Lamentations‘ is a healing resource for those who are building on hope, mindfulness, going through personal transformation or appreciating themselves, others and surroundings.

In my third creative book of prose ‘Altschmerz‘, you will uncover difficult expressions about domestic relationships, friendships, childhood trauma, fear and abuse that will stimulate perspectives towards courage and higher self-esteem. Sensitive but tough…

And finally, ‘Twilight Zone’, which is soulful, aspirational expression for independent thinkers who are developing belief in themselves and possibilities to brighten their futures in a spiritual light. This is to bring hope as you go through developmental and emotional stages, phases and changes.

If you had to compare this book to any other book out there, which book would it be? I believe my work is unique in its own right due to the complexity and delivery, however as a reference, I have been told my work can be similar to Pablo Neruda and e.e cummings.

Twilight Zone is soulful, aspirational expression of poetry for independent thinkers who are developing belief in themselves and possibilities to brighten their futures in a spiritual light. This is to bring hope as you go through developmental and intelligent stages, phases and changes.

We ask Javier Rhoden our of the hundreds of thousands of books come out every year. Why should someone buy THIS book? He said …My work is genuine and real. Each poem either comes from my own experience or an experience shared from a perspective to invoke emotional and thoughtful processing towards an inner development that took place within myself as spiritual, that I’m now sharing with the world to further help the growth of it. I understand how saturated this art form has become and these days it’s hard to tell the difference between books, you can get an inspiring or motivating message from someone who hasn’t applied what they’re preaching but heard or saw it from someone else. This is the saturation. The insightful and enlightening words I’ve written were used to overcome very hard times throughout the years and that’s what I’ve put into all my books…an example of this would be when I was writing quotes on sticky notes and posting them on social media back in 2014. I had a wall of motivational words I wrote myself on those sticky notes to help me get through working a job with back pain. I’d express myself, share it and tackle the day.

It’s always important to know and understand your target audience. Rhoden said over the years I wrote for myself, so I never wrote with an audience in mind, however I’ve been told both men and women of all ages could benefit from the work I’ve done. From an avid reader to not a reader at all, my books are easy to digest which gives you a boost of critical thinking that benefits your life as it has mine. I’ve been told they’re excellent children and teenage books.

Meet Javier Rhoden

Javier Rhoden (born November 30, 1994), is an independent author and poetry publisher who has written in many styles and forms, including surrealism poems and prose, brevity and vignettes.

Early in 2021, Javier Rhoden established his publishing brand, Perseveerance. After establishment, Rhoden officially published his debut collection of poetry called Luminescence in July 2021. Thereafter, Rhoden published Lamentations later that year before publishing Altschmerz and Twilight Zone in 2022.

Javier was born in St. Andrew, Jamaica before moving to Florida at the tender age of 7 years old. He was known for writing poetry and prose at the age of 12 by the sharing of his poetry throughout his teenage years.

Coming from a childhood with a lot of misunderstanding, Javier read a lot of books in his time from authors such as Charles Bukowski, Sylvia Plath, Kahlil Gibran, e.e. cummings, Pablo Neruda and more. He developed a philosophical outlook and began journaling about the feelings he couldn’t express openly. Writing quickly became his passion as an alternate world than the one he was in where being the family scapegoat was reality.

Perseveerance was established as inspirational motivation for others to follow their dreams, even if it isn’t supported, understood or seen as successful by those around you. Perseverance means having a steady persistence in a course of action and the word “veer” means a change in direction, Perseveerance comes together as “a different path leads to the same destination”.

We asked do you think your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage? Oh, most definitely. Writing became a way of emotional regulation for me while growing up. My desire to be an author wasn’t supported either, I was told a lot of things and things happened that I’ve had to heal from, but all of that I’ve used for my pieces and although I heard a lot of doubt, I had none. Sometimes we have a dream without the guidelines to accomplish it, but what I learned is you get the answers within due time. If you’re getting answers then there’s no reason to quit, is there? What’s left is for people to either support you or not, but life goes on. So does your career…and if it makes you money, you can certainly make a career out of it.

Javier said his most rewarding experience since publishing your work was seeing the book itself in my hands, the feel of the cover and pages with the name Javier Rhoden is the most rewarding to me. It’s like saying you’re going to do something and then seeing what you’ve done as the accomplishment. Everything else is extra.

Everyone has a writing style what is your writing style Javier? My style is an intricate, unorthodox stream of consciousness in versatility  between classical and modern times but can be read for any time or season in life.

Other than selling his book Rhoden hopes to accomplish with his books, my accomplishment I hope is to have everyone who reads my work to be left with a lasting imprint enough to reread it and include it in their daily lives so that it helps them with personal growth.
