Fantasy Author Sunayna Prasad Interview

Sunayna Prasad explained the joy she gets from writing stories and creating fantasy worlds. “Writing stories has always been a passion of mine,” she said. “From the time I was six years old, I would spend hours crafting tales and adventures that could transport readers to unique places filled with enchanted creatures.”

As she grew older, her interest in world-building only increased. “I especially love reading fantasy books and creating original magical beings,” Prasad admitted. She also enjoys exploring different cultures to shape her characters and settings into realistic, diverse environments.

Prasad is currently working on several projects for young adults as well as children’s books that incorporate her love of fantasy and magical elements. “I’m excited to have the opportunity to share these stories with readers all over the world,” she said. “It’s my hope that they can see themselves in my worlds and find comfort, joy, and inspiration in them.”

These days, Sunayna Prasad is dedicated to her craft and loves creating new worlds for children of all ages. She dreams of one day having her work be enjoyed by generations of readers. With her passion for writing stories, there’s no doubt she will succeed in this dream.

Tell us about your book? It’s about a girl, living with her rough uncle. She discovers the existence of magic and is abducted to Fiji by a sorcerer. She has to fight against dangerous beasts before overthrowing the warlock.

What is the PRIMARY benefit, above all others, that your potential reader will gain from reading this book? It is a different kind of fantasy, where the wizards use modern technology. They are also with the same times as ordinary people (there is no term for non-magical people in my books), or sometimes ahead.

If you had to compare this book to any other book out there, which book would it be? A lot of people have compared it to “Harry Potter.” I couldn’t agree with them anymore.

Hundreds of thousands of books come out every year. Why should someone buy THIS book? Besides the fact that wizards use modern technology, they also live very differently than magicians in other fantasy novels. One example is that their potions are brewed in an advanced pot instead of a cauldron.

Who is your target audience? Parents of young girls, ages 8 – 11, living in the US, who love fantasy books about strong female leads. A benefit could be learning about a unique fantasy world and routing for the main character to live with someone who treats her better, which she longs for.

Did your environment or upbringing play a major role in your writing and did you use it to your advantage? Mainly to my advantage.

Tell us your most rewarding experience since publishing your work? Better reviews than the original edition, published in 2013.

How would you describe your writing style? Straightforward and a little bit complex.

Are your characters pure fiction, or did you draw from people you know? No one is based off of people I knew. But some of the characters were developed like people I know.

Are you more of a character artist or a plot-driven writer? A plot-driven writer.

What do you hope to accomplish with your book other than selling it? Gaining more reviews, fans, and people talking about it.
