Interview with Ian Leaf Author of Starting an HFC Business at Home

Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself: :
A: I am Ian Leaf, HFC Businessman and newly recognized author. Since the beginning of this year (2015), I was inspired to write my first book.

Q: When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?:
A:Inspiration for writing came just simply from brainstorming on how work and business has changed in only 10 years. More people are working and starting a business from home than ever before! This is the subject that birthed the book

Q: How long does it take you to write a book?:
A:The time required for me to write a book is a few months, 6 at the most.

Q: Do you have a favorite book or work that you’ve written? If so, why? :
A:The only book I’ve written so far is, “Starting A HFC Business at Home.

Q: What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?:
A:I do my work during the day, but my writing, I do during the later hours.

Q: What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?:
A:I’m not sure if it would be considered an unusual writing habit, but I typically do my best creative writing late at night when I should be sleeping.

Q: How do books get published?:
A:I publish my own books.

Q: What do you like to do when you’re not writing?:
A:When I’m not writing, I like to take a little time and study other successful authors as well as read from their works too.

Q: When did you write your first book and how old were you?:
A:My first book, “Starting A HFC Business at Home,” was written recently last month October 2015. I am 37.

Q: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?:
A:In my most recent book, I studied businesses and business strategy. I then took the experience I had working from home and put the two together in order to start a business from home.

Q: What does your family think of your writing?:
A:I’m the first author in my family, so this is surely something new and surprising for my parents. Everyone seems to be supportive, but somewhat jealous.

Q: What was one of the most surprising things you learned in creating your books?:
A:One of the most surprising things I had learned in creating my books is that I do my best work when I am absolutely exhausted.

Q: How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?:
A:I have only written one.

Q: Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?:
A:My advice for new authors and even myself is if you want to write about it, then write about it! Even if you think there is a book out there that talks about what you are writing about. You have a perspective that other people will relate to better than the existing book. Also, don’t wait for a publishing company. Publish it yourself.

Q: Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?:
A:I’ve heard from a few readers. The reviews of my book so far are great and I’m looking forward to reading more of them. You can find some of the reviews on my blog.

Q: Do you like to create books for kids or adults? and Why?:
A:I would typically create books for adults. I like to focus on the business side of things and help people.

Q: What do you think makes a good story?:
A:For a story, it needs a beginning, middle and an end. The story must have a theme/plot/main idea. Also, I find people connect with a story when there are characters who they relate to and also at least one character they despise.

Q: As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?:
A:When I was a child, I knew I was a great writer because my teachers would always talk about my work. That is true today where peers give me compliments on how I write.
