Author Interview with George Mazurek author of The City of Wizards
Q: Tell us a little bit about yourself: :
A: I´m an European writer of fantasy and sci-fi books and short stories. I´m 41, I live near Ostrava, and I´m a University professor.
Q:When did you first realize you wanted to be a writer?:
A: When I was a kid, prehaps.
Q:How long does it take you to write a book?:
A:It takes me around one year.
Q:Do you have a favorite book or work that you’ve written? If so, why? :
A:No, I don´t. I treat all my works equally.
Q:What is your work schedule like when you’re writing?:
A:Well, I like to write in the morning, when I´m fresh. After the noon it´s harder to focus…
Q:What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?:
A:I think my minimalistic style and vision.
Q:What do you like to do when you’re not writing?:
A:Reading books of others.
Q:When did you write your first book and how old were you?:
A:I wrote my first book in 2005, when I was 31.
Q:Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?:
A:Inspiration comes unexpectedly, I can´t say that exactly. As for information, I google a lot… ;-).
Q:How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?:
A:I have written 5 books. If i had to mention one, it would be The City of Wizards, the last one.
Q:Do you have any suggestions to help me become a better writer? If so, what are they?:
A:Read as much as you can, and then try to write something better…
Q:What do you think makes a good story?:
A: Every story has three main parts: protagonists, an environment and a plot. You must mix it interestingly.
Q:As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?:
A:I had no idea. I just wanted to play football…
